How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don’t have to be in crisis for therapy to be helpful. Many people reach out when they’re navigating grief, adjusting to caregiving, coping with medical uncertainty, or feeling overwhelmed by life changes. Therapy can provide a supportive space to talk openly, process what you’re experiencing, and find ways to move forward.

Do I need to be “ready” to start therapy?

Not at all. Many people begin therapy while they are still in the middle of shock, grief, or uncertainty.

You don’t need to have clear goals or know exactly what you want from therapy. We will start wherever you are, and find our way together.

What issues do you specialize in?

I work with individuals who are navigating experiences such as:

  • Grief and loss

  • Serious or life-changing medical diagnoses

  • Anticipatory grief

  • Caregiver stress

  • Anxiety related to health and uncertainty

  • Infertility and pregnancy loss

  • Adoption

  • Major life transitions

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple! Look at the information on the Insurance page to find which platform supports your plan. You can book directly with me through Growtherapy and Headway using the links on that page. If you are seeking counseling through Ancora Compassionate Care Counseling Center, you can use the contact form or call the Counseling Center at (336) 427-9022 to get started.

If you aren't sure about your insurance coverage or need more information, you can reach out through the contact form on this website and I'll be in touch within a few days. From there, we’ll briefly talk about what you’re looking for and discuss next steps if you decide to move forward.

How long are therapy sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long.

We’ll usually meet weekly or biweekly at first, though the frequency can be adjusted depending on your needs and circumstances.

How long until I'm feeling better?

Many people have expressed feeling lighter after the first session! Generally speaking, though, you should start to notice some positive changes in how you are thinking and feeling within the first 3-4 sessions.

What if I’m not sure therapy will help?

It’s completely normal to feel unsure!

A consultation can help you get a sense of what working together might feel like. You’re welcome to ask questions, share a little about what you’re going through, and then decide whether it feels like a good fit for you. Just reach out using the Contact form and I'll be in touch.

What if I’m supporting a loved one with a serious illness?

Caregivers and partners often carry an enormous emotional load. Therapy can provide a space where you can talk openly about the stress, fear, exhaustion, and complex emotions that come with supporting someone you love.
