Hi! I'm Megan, and I'm really glad you're here.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in North Carolina and Virginia. I offer in-person sessions at the Ancora Compassionate Care Counseling Center office, located in Reidsville, North Carolina. I offer telehealth sessions to residents of North Carolina and Virginia. I now offer walking sessions for those who are able to meet me a local park, and if we both agree that it is a workable option for you based on your needs.
When life feels especially hard, it can make all the difference to have someone to open up to who won’t say, “It’s all going to be okay,” “You just need to relax,” or “Just get over it.” Instead, I offer a space where you are heard, your experiences are validated, and your pain is taken seriously. We will sort out your feelings, figure out what you feel most ready to change or improve, then we'll get to work! Together, we will sort through new ways of looking at or coping with tough situations, and help you tap into your own inner strength and external support systems so you can begin to feel more grounded, confident, and resilient.
I bring years of personal and professional experience in hospitals, hospice, infertility and adoption, grief work, and mental health care to each session. I don't believe in cookie-cutter approaches to therapy: I draw from a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities to inform the structure of each client's individual treatment plan. I use elements of Attachment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Grief Therapy, and more in sessions. I want each client to have an active role in developing their individualized plan to feeling more themselves again.
I’m comfortable sitting with you in the heavy moments, and we will definitely talk about some hard subjects in session. That being said, I don’t want therapy to feel so heavy that you dread coming. I'm not going to force you to talk about anything in sessions until you feel ready. My style is relaxed and conversational, with a mix of humor, compassion, and gentle encouragement to help you recognize just how capable you are of growth, hope, and healing.
Lastly, but most importantly, I am deeply committed to providing a practice that is open-minded, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming, rooted in the belief that kindness and diversity make us all stronger.

About Me:
I was born and raised in central North Carolina, where I live today. I lived for several years in Asheville and Hendersonville during and after college, and the mountains of Western NC still hold a special place in my heart. My personal journey has been shaped by nearly 20 years of marriage and the profound joy of becoming an adoptive parent after a long road with infertility. My family is incredibly important to me: caring for my beloved grandparents in their final years was one of the greatest honors of my life, and the hydrangeas you see in my logo and throughout this site are a tribute to them, and the beautiful blooms that covered their backyard.
Outside of the therapy room, I am a lover of coffee, camping, and a good book. I've recently discovered a new hobby, embroidery, that I am really enjoying! I love spending time out in nature, whether it's hiking or planting flowers and birdwatching in my backyard. I find a lot of comfort and joy in music, with a playlist ready for any mood! Whether we are out exploring the region in our camper or hanging out at home with our dogs and cat, animals and the outdoors are central to my world. If we meet via telehealth, your furry friends are always welcome to join us!
